Hi friends!

My name’s Shayley and I’m starting my World Race!

Why World Race?

I was raised in a Christian home, but an encounter with Jesus at 15 changed my life. I began feeling the call to missions shortly after being baptized and started looking for ways to make that a possibility. When I started my freshman year at college, I was given so many amazing opportunities and got to sit with people from all walks of life who have incredibly unique stories. People like my roommate, who has been one of my greatest encouragers as I’ve wrestled with God about this, and who has a friend currently on her race. I’ve gotten to hear stories of students who’ve spent time living life on mission and encountering Christ in radical new ways. When I made the choice to interview with the World Race, I chose to take a risk on sharing my story, all that came with that, and the anxieties surrounding going to a new place. But after interviewing for the race, I felt a peace to the hectic that life had recently been feeling like. Faith is taking a shot in the dark and hoping it lands, using “green light theology” until He says stop.

Where is our squad going?

We’re going to Ethiopia and Rwanda! We’ll first fly up to Georgia to spend time at Training Camp. There, we’ll get to know the people we’re going to be doing ministry with for the next two months. We’ll spend time bonding with our squad, being trained for international ministry, and learning what life on mission looks like! After camp, we’ll “launch”, or fly to our first ministry location.

More about me;

I’m an 18 year-old who fell so deeply in love with the Lord! I’m not entirely sure what He’s up to, but I know I want to be in full-time ministry working with youth. After the race, I’ll be entering my second year of college where I’ve been studying theology. The more I read Scripture, the more in love with Christ I become. While I’ve long-loved the idea of missionary work overseas, I never thought I would get the opportunity and privilege to go on an adventure like this. I’m looking forward to being outdoors, working with kids and youth, and growing my faith through the breaking.

How can you help?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for being willing to support what God is doing here! It’s scary and exciting and full of unknowns. Please keep this trip in your prayers! If you’d like to come alongside me financially, visit my fundraising/support page!

Prayer Requests

  • For peace! I never want to doubt or second-guess what God has spoken.
  • Boldness! I know it’s time to take this step, but it’s a hard and exciting process.
  • Being where my feet are. As I end my first semester in university and step into the Christmas season, I want to focus on being present in these moments.

“…to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:12 – 13

That’s all, folks ☀️

Love you!
